Eating strawberries in June is a ritual all over New England.  In Westfield the tradition holds a little more meaning.  For 150 years the Strawberry Super has meant getting together, enjoying the bright red fruits of the season and celebrating community. From picking the berries to making the shortbread, hundreds of volunteer hours go into this truly home grown meal, which Yankee Magazine has labeled one of the “Top 20 Events” in our state. 

As in the past, a worthy cause benefits from the proceeds of the dinner and this time it is The Westfield Food Pantry. Close to 1,000 residents benefit from the food assistance provided each month.  The need in our city has more than doubled over the past couple years. The support brought in by this evening will help the Pantry to get through the summer months when food supplies and donations are always at a critically low point.


Here are the details;

·        Thursday June 13th, 6:30pm. 

·        The cost of the dinner is $20 for adults and $10.00 for children. 

·        Tickets include dinner and may be purchased online at or call 413-562-5461.

This is a very special year - our 150th (Sesquicentennial) Strawberry Festival!

There are many jobs to do… Let us know what your interested in, and we’ll get let you know about time & location.

Publicity & Ticket Sales:

We need EVERYONE to help sell tickets… the most important ingredient to a successful Straw-berry Festival! Tell your family, friends and anyone you meet & encourage them to come to a wonderful event with the best food & fellowship for the benefit of The Westfield Food Pantry


Raffle Administrators

: to sell raffle tickets for our 50/50 raffle and 2 very special quilts made for our 150th celebration.

Picking Strawberries

: (Tuesday before the Festival) many hands make light work! The more the merrier and the faster it is done. Come one, come all, big & small.

Food Preparation:

(Wed & Thurs) preparation of potato salad, tossed salad, corn pudding, strawberries, biscuits & whipped cream. Preparing condiments, slicing the meats, plating the prepared food for serving. Making Helen’s fabu-lous balsamic dressing!

Beverage Preparation:

(Thurs afternoon) Coffee, Tea, Iced Tea & Lemonade … brewing, slicing lemons for ice tea.

Set up:

(Wed Eve 6PM) Table & chair layout, covering tables, putting out place settings.


: (Wed & Thurs) Picking up supplies from various resources and transporting to their destination and returning them after the festival.

Food Service:

(Thurs) Servers, & Hosts/Hostesses to serve and distribute food in a safe and friendly manner.

Clean up

: (Wed, Thurs & Fri) An ongoing task, in various locations. At food prep sites, at the Boys & Girls Club; and at the Church after the festival.
